Today, we celebrate an extraordinary victory for L.A. County.

The passage of Measure A is a testament to the strength and dedication of coalition members, volunteers, advocates, and every one of you who championed this cause—through phone calls, door-to-door outreach, emails, texts, social media, and ultimately, your vote. Your efforts have built a movement rooted in purpose, compassion, and the determination to address homelessness and housing insecurity at their core.

On behalf of United Way of Greater Los Angeles, it has been an honor to stand alongside you in support of this historic initiative. Measure A goes way beyond acknowledging the challenges our region faces – it presents an actionable, innovative plan to meet those challenges head-on through compassion and care.

With a strong majority of the vote, voters across the county have sent a powerful message: our commitment to building a safer, healthier, and more equitable Los Angeles is unwavering. This landmark decision reflects our collective resolve to protect and uplift the most vulnerable among us through substantial investments in mental health care, homelessness prevention, and affordable housing.

Many of us are concerned about the results of national and state elections and how they will impact the most vulnerable in our communities, and what gives me hope today is what we accomplished together.

Thank you for your commitment and your belief in a better future.

With gratitude,

Elise C. Buik
