Mentorship Program
What is It?
Through UWGLA’s Mentorship Program, community college students will have the opportunity to connect with a mentor in a related field to their area of study. Students will receive professional guidance to support their professional and personal growth. The program will bolster student retention and increase transfer rates and certificate completion as well as offer guided career exploration through a series of workshops and one-on-one meetings.
What's the impact?
Mentorship programs improve the overall educational experience and personal development of students. Mentors provide valuable guidance, helping students navigate the complexities of academic life and career planning. Through one-on-one interactions, mentors can share their insights and experiences, offering practical advice on coursework, time management, and future career paths.
Mentorship fosters a sense of belonging and community, reducing feelings of isolation often experienced by community college students. This supportive relationship encourages students to set and achieve realistic goals, boosting their confidence and motivation. Ultimately, a mentorship program contributes significantly to the success of community college students by providing a personalized and holistic approach to their academic and personal growth.
The Mentorship Program is open to LATTC and LACC students. Please submit your application by November 8th, 2024
