The grant supports BMO’s Purpose, to Boldly Grow the Good in business and life

Los Angeles, CA (December 3, 2024) — In the spirit of Giving Tuesday, a global day of generosity, United Way of Greater Los Angeles is announcing a $1.5 million grant from BMO to support its Community Prosperity Initiative aimed to advance a more inclusive economy that centers community wealth and well-being.

This donation, which underscores BMO’s Purpose, to Boldly Grow the Good in business and life will support United Way as it delivers programs and services, and ties to BMO’s pillars of a thriving economy and an inclusive society.

“BMO is proud to continue to expand on our partnership with United Way this Giving Tuesday,” said Sandy Dunleavy, Regional President, Southern California, BMO. “This grant reflects our deep commitment to communities across the Los Angeles region and our belief in the power of collective action to create lasting change. Through investing, giving, and engagement in our local communities, BMO is tackling barriers to inclusion to create more opportunity for success.”

BMO’s contributions help United Way strengthen the power of their network to support smaller organizations delivering on-the-ground resources and services to communities, and critical work like innovating strategies to build resilient, future-proof neighborhoods that are empowered to thrive.

“We are deeply grateful for BMO’s generous support,” said Elise Buik, President & CEO, United Way of Greater Los Angeles. “This grant will help us expand our reach and deepen our impact as we work to close the racial wealth gap and create pathways to prosperity for all Angelenos.”

Giving Tuesday also marks the kick-off of BMO’s 14th annual, industry-leading, Employee Giving Campaign which has been ranked #1 by United Way Worldwide. To launch the campaign, BMO employees in 18 communities across the United States and Canada will gather to pack care kits with essential items to help individuals and families experiencing homelessness and food insecurity.
